RevoDx HIV-2 qPCR Kit
HIV is a virus that can lead to AIDS, a condition in which the body’s immune system is damaged and cannot fight off infections. In the United States, HIV is spread primarily by sexual contact, contaminated needles, childbirth, and breastfeeding.
HIV-1 and HIV-2 are the two types of human immunodeficiency virus that have been characterized to date. Both viruses have been found in patients with AIDS. HIV-2 is less common than HIV-1 but still very dangerous. Though it primarily affects people living in western Africa, it is spreading slowly but steadily in areas such as Europe, Asia and America.
Early diagnosis allows people with HIV to start treatment right away, when they may benefit most from regular visits with a provider. HIV testing gives all people information about their risk so they can protect themselves, their partners, and their families against this serious and incurable disease.

RevoDx HIV-2 qPCR Kit is a real-time PCR test intended for quantification of Human Immunodeficiency virus type 2 (HIV-2) RNA in human serum or plasma (EDTA)
Features
- Validated for use with fresh or frozen human serum or plasma collected in EDTA anticoagulant.
- Dual Targets minimize the risk of false negative test results due to the potential mutations in the target regions of the HIV-2 genome covered by the oligos
- Quantification Standards ranging from 1 x 104 IU/mL to 1 x 107 IU/mL
- Exogenous internal control
- The Limit of Detection (LoD) value is 59 IU/mL
- Linear range is between 75 IU/mL and 1 x 109 IU/mL
- Diagnostic specificity is ≥ 99 %
- Can detect and quantify all subtypes of HIV-2 M group and Circulating Recombinant Forms
- Whole system failure rate is ≤1 %
